Wayne Wright of Simi Valley recently was named by Assemblyman Cameron Smyth as the 38th Assembly District’s Veteran of the Year.
Commander Wright is a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for over sixteen years and currently serves as the Post Commander of VFW Post 10049 in Simi Valley. In 2008, Wright performed more than 600 hours of volunteer work with the VFW administering aid to veterans in need and VFW related community service.
Wright served in the U.S. Army and flew combat missions over Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He also is active with Boy Scouts of America and was honored as Chartered Organization Representative of the Year in 2007-2008.
Commander Wright will be honored at a luncheon with other veterans from across California in Sacramento on June 17.
